5 Tips For Growing Your Instagram

If you’re reading this blog, then it means you’re interested in growing your Instagram account. Today we are sharing 5 super important tips for growing your Instagram.

Instagram is everywhere, as well as being a fantastic social media network it’s also one of the most highly used platforms for businesses and showcasing your work. If you aren’t seeing growth then it means you need to change up your efforts.

1) Consistency is the key - when we refer to consistency we don’t just mean posting regularly, we also mean posting similar content (don’t have too much variety) - you want the Instagram algorithm to recognise your niche so that it can share your content with people interested in that topic. The other main way for consistency is to allow for a cohesive feed which can be achieved by applying the same preset to each of your images. We have a very wide selection on our site so make sure to pick one that suits your type of imagery. Remember people like patterns so make sure to apply the preset and allow a good flow on your account.

2)  Tactical reach and engagement - this is more of a 2 in 1 because this is such an important tip. If you have a business account on Instagram it allows you to see analytics about your account, your audience and your content. You can see follower demographics, most engaged content, the times your followers are most active and also how your image has reached people. This is imperative to knowing more about your followers and when to post. If you have a travel account and you post a mix of winter and summer but you’re getting practically no engagement with your winter posts, then throw out more content that your follower’s like. If your audience aren’t active at 7 and most active at 9 then post at 9 rather than 7! You want them to see your posts. Listen to the data Instagram gives you and work with it

3)    Hashtags- this is such an overlooked thing in the Instagram world and it shouldn’t be. Hashtags are one of the most important ways to grow. When people search hashtags you want your content to display. Our advice is first of all use them on EVERY single post, secondly ensure you use a lot (Instagram allows for up to 30 so that’s 30 chances of discovery) , and thirdly make sure your hashtags are relevant. Why use a food hashtag in a beauty account? It doesn’t make sense and will confuse your audience. You should make sure you tailor your hashtags to suit your posts and also look for newly emerging tags so that you can get in there early.

4)    Engage- the whole point of growing on social is that you actually use it yourself and look at other people’s content as well as your own. If you have poor engagement, few likes and few followers well the first thing you should look at is how often you follow people and engage with their content. If you aren’t showing love to their content they are much less likely to show love on your posts. Make sure to like and comment on their posts and in return you will see love back. After-all, nothing in this world is for free.

5)    Instagram bio - Another widely ignored but CRUCIAL aspect of your Instagram account is your bio. Think of it like a business card, you want to say who you are, what you do (i.e. travel blogger). Keep it succinct and catchy. We also recommend talking about if you’re open to collaborations or have your website there if you’re a business. If you want to drive traffic you have to be clear about what your aims are. If you sell dog toys- tell people etc. It’s so important especially as it’s the first thing people see when they hit your account - make sure you intrigue them.
